SPRING CLEANING INITIATIVE BENEFITING THE HOMELESS COALITION

On March 8^th local area residents donated their gently used household goods and furniture to benefit the Emergency Services Homeless Coalition.  This organization provides low income housing for up to two years to families that are trying to get back on their feet.  The residents must have a job or be actively seeking employment, attend weekly budget meetings, be subjected to random drug screenings and give back to their community a minimum of 10 hours per month.  Once the families are ready to go out on their own, they may take anything they need in their house with them to make a fresh start.  8 van/truck loads of items were taken down to the facility in vans donated by Enterprise Rent-a-Car.  On March 15^th more than 60 volunteers from the plantation donated their time to help “Spring Clean” the homes at the Homeless Coalition.  They worked together with the residents to help paint the houses and spruce up the landscaping.  Nanak’s Landscaping and Williams Nursery donated more than 300 plants and Nanak’s sent employees to help as well.

Due to everyone’s generosity we were able to donate approximately $25,000 in charitable giving and almost 400 community service hours.
